A Clinical Study on the Effect of Empynase



Abstract
A clinical study was performed in 25 cases of chronic paransal sinusitis to determi e the effect of empynase.
Scores of subjective symptoms and objective findings were taken before and after 4 week trial of oral intake of empynase.
The results were as follows:
1. In subjective symptoms the improvement effects were 87. 5% in hyperrhinorrhea, 8 .0%0 in postnasal drip, 82.6% in nasal obstruction, 90. 5% in headache and 88.2¢¥. in hyposmia. In objective findings the improvement effect were 90.5% in hyperemic lasal mucosa, 83.3% in pale nasal mucosa, 89.5% in edematons nasal mucosa, 85.7 o in purulent rhinorrhea, 62. 5% in mucoid rhinorrhea and 100% in serous rhinorrhea.
2. No systemic or local side effects were observed during and after 4 week tri Is of empynase.
The above results suggested that empynase seemed to be effective and safe i, the medical treatment of chronic paranasal sinusitis.
